BARA
has announced two Machine Safety Conferences for 2008. The first was
held in Manchester on the 17th June, the second will be taking
place in
the
Midlands
on 30th September.
The
conferences are run in association with Drives & Controls
and sponsored by the IET, HSE, IMechE and MachineBuilding.net. The conferences
will provide a comprehensive overview of machinery safety standards, covering
current
and emerging standards, applicable technology examining practical application
through case studies. Sessions will include safety-related networking and
emerging robotic safety standards.
Mike
Wilson (President of BARA) recently
visited a manufacturing company who had obtained a £50,000
loan to assist the purchase of a robot machine loading
system from the Carbon Trust. This organisation
has been set up by the government to promote improved
energy usage.
Loans
of up to £100,000 can be obtained dependant
on the savings which are projected and are basically
to fund the replacement of existing facilities with more
energy
efficient equipment. The loans are unsecured, interest
free and repayable over a period up to 4 years. With
careful analysis, to demonstrate energy savings, this
can be used
to assist the purchase of robot and automation systems.
Further details can be found at www.carbontrust.co.uk -
look at the Small and Medium Sized Business Toolkit.
In order to help
users of automation to keep up to date with automation technology we are running
a seminar series and also building up a database of educational documents which
may be of interest. If you have any requests for informaiton you would like
to be included, or any information we could use, please email us.
